In the hot houses and conservatory they grew tropical fruits such as Oranges, Peaches and Pineapples in the 1800s and early 1900s. This is the site of Calke Abbey's Mushroom House. They had multiple tiers of compost beds that they kept dark, moist and heated year round to grow their mushrooms in.
